About our Class

Welcome to Class One, the class with the youngest children in the school.  We are a mixed year class of Early Years Foundation Stage and Year 1.  Early Years Foundation Stage is the entry year to primary school and the children follow a curriculum based on play that is planned, structured, purposeful and responds to children's individual needs, interests and targets.  The Foundation Stage curriculum is split into the specific areas of Literacy, Mathematics, Expressive Arts and Design and Understanding the World and runs alongside the prime areas of Physical Development; Personal, Social and Emotional Development; and Communication and Language.

Year 1 is the first year of the Key Stage 1 curriculum and this is where the children start to learn the National Curriculum. English and Maths are taught daily.  You will see from our weekly timetable the children also learn science, history, geography, PE, RE, PSHE, computing, art and music.  We teach  some subjects discretely and some through our class topic  We aim to ensure learning experiences are adapted to meet the children's interests, needs and experiences.
