Vision & Values

Marsh Baldon CE Primary School is a small but remarkable school set in a unique rural setting just a few minutes from the multicultural city of Oxford. We are a fully inclusive school, encouraging children of all abilities, circumstances and world views to join us. Children and staff are cherished as  respected individuals, each with a unique contribution to make to our community.

Our Vision

‘I came to give life, life in all its fullness' John 10:10

  • To empower all to flourish as unique respected individuals
  • To be aspirational, encouraging excellence and a love of learning
  • To create curious, confident, free thinkers who manage setbacks and take risks
  • To foster Christian values, spirituality and love so that all grow a strong sense of themselves, as well as a responsibility towards others and the natural world

We put the people at the centre of everything we do to enable them to live the best life they can by:

  • Providing an affectionate, calm and encouraging environment in which people develop strong relationships and a sense of belonging
  • Exploring Christian values and notions of spirituality so everyone grows a strong sense of themselves and their world view, whilst developing compassion and responsibility towards others and the natural world
  • Having high aspirations for all and ensuring excellence across the curriculum whilst encouraging individuals’ talents and interests
  • Creating a wide variety of memorable, purposeful and enriching learning experiences so that children become curious, creative free thinkers who can rise to challenges and be proud of accomplishments
  • Helping all to develop the resilience and stamina that allows them to face life’s challenges and that enable them to support others through difficult times’
  • Fostering good physical and mental health and avoiding unhealthy pressure
  • Developing strong partnerships with parents, the church, the wider community and other agencies that guide and enlighten us

Our school values, rooted in Christian teaching, are:

Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you.

Give careful thought to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways.  Proverbs 24:25-26

‘Love your Neighbour as you love yourself’  Mark 12:31

So there is no difference between Jews and Gentiles, between slaves and free people, between men and women; you are all in union with Christ Jesus.  Galatians 3:28

So then, we must always aim at those things that bring peace and that help to strengthen one another.  Romans 14:19

Love is patient and kind; it is not jealous or conceited or proud; love is not ill-mannered or selfish or irritable; love does not keep a record of wrongs, love is not happy with evil, but is happy with the truth. Love never gives up and its faith, hope, and patience never fail.  1 Corinthians 13: 4-8a

The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing.  He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.  Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.  Psalms 23:1-4

Our values link in with our Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) programme; the scheme of work for this is provided by Jigsaw (See PHSE Policy).  Each value is explored closely during a short term, aligned with the Jigsaw themes as follows:
